  • Overview

    The core function of the role will be to work closely with Breen senior management and Breen project managers/teams to understand all business activities, then direct finance/accounting resources to ensure published financial results appropriately reflect business activities.  This role will be directly embedded in the business and will be an integral part of the project planning and evaluation process, as well as ensuring compliance to operating and financial processes during project execution phases.  The position will report to the VP of Finance and CFO of Mississippi Lime (Breen parent company).  The position will be located at the Breen head office in Pittsburgh, PA.


    This role is ideal for a finance and strategically-oriented individual with a strong aptitude for plant operations.  It will provide a critical link between Breen’s Finance/Business activities and their Commerical/Project activities.


    This position needs to understand Breen’s value offering as well as Breen’s business case for each project or commercial endeavor.  It understands Breen’s overall strategic goals and helps ensure all activities support those goals.  The individual must have technical aptitude to understand customers’ operations; general knowledge of large scale power plants would be a plus.  It requires a broad understanding of Finance/Accounting concepts, but also requires a working knowledge of the technical aspects of Breen’s customer operations.   


    • Partners with Breen Sr. Management and project managers to ensure achievement of short and long-term business goals and objectives.
    • Reviews and analyzes projects and commercial activities to provide timely and accurate financial reporting. Tracks and reports profitability by project.
    • Works with finance/accounting personnel to ensure financial statements properly reflect business activities. Ensures business processes and procedures meet financial reporting and control requirements while also being operationally efficient. 
    • Liaison with parent company (Mississippi Lime Co.) regarding financial processes, financial reporting, and business analysis, ensuring they are consistent with parent company standards.
    • Works closely with Project Managers to ensure financial impact of individual projects is tracked, monitored, and understood.
    • Assists in new business evaluations, helping determine business case feasibility and compatibility with strategies and objectives.
    • Provides strategic procurement support as necessary.
    • Provides support for development and administration of customer contracts and agreements.


    • Undergraduate degree in appropriate field; Finance or Accounting preferred. MBA strongly desired.
    • 5-7+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting in a manufacturing business, utility industry, or chemical industry.
    • Excellent analytical skills as well as a big-picture, strategic business understanding.
    • Must be comfortable in a plant or heavy industrial environment.
    • Some travel to customer sites and trade shows will be required.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be self-starter and action oriented.
